In 2010 the International Telecommunication Union adopted a resolution pursuant to which each year the 4th Thursday of April is considered to be the “International day of girls in the ICT sector”.
On 26 April 2012 in cooperation with the Armenian-Indian ICT centre of excellence, Mobile Solutions Regional Laboratory of East Europe and Central Asia, Microsoft innovation centre inYerevanand theAmericanUniversityofArmeniafor the first timeArmeniawill celebrate the “International day of girls in the ICT sector”.
It will be held under auspices of the Ministry of Economy of theRepublicofArmeniaand at the initiative of “Women and the Information Society” NGO. The project is supported by the Inkobator Fund of Enterprises and by the program of USAID Enterprise development and market competitiveness.
On the same day, April 26, from13:00 to 17:00 o’clock, the Forum “Girls can develop the ICT” will be held in the American University of Armenia, during which the women, who have succeeded in the field of education, science, government, industry of the ICT sector, will make a speech. Awards will also be given during this Forum.
