Promoting healthy lifestyle in Artsakh military units

March 8, a meeting was held with the soldiers of the military unit N of the Defense Army of Artsakh at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of NKR, jointly with the Centre of Christian Education of Armenian Apostolic Church. During the meeting topics of healthy lifestyle were elaborated on, including prevention of smoking, alcohol and drug use etc.

The meeting was the continuation of the policy of the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of NKR aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle among the youth, in the format “army-society”.

During the meeting films about tobacco, alcohol and drugs and their deadly hazards in the organism were shown. The soldiers were distributed CDs on popular scientific films. An open dialogue was held between the soldiers and head of the Centre Karen Apresyan, during which a number of contemporary issues were touched upon. A special focus was made to the spiritual security issues.

“Healthy spirit helps restore healthy life, and healthy lifestyle helps restore the communication with God”, the Head of the Centre stated.

According to him this meeting was of pilot nature, there was a need to clarify the attitude of soldiers and officers towards the covered issues.

“The meeting was held, and methodological works should be carried out with those interested in the healthy spiritual security and healthy lifestyle”, Karen Apresyan stated.

As head of the department of youth issues David Ghukasyan indicated, such meetings will be organized also in other military units of the Defense Army of NKR during the year.
